Welcome to PARP 2023!
January 30 - February 17

PARP (Pick A Reading Partner) is an annual tradition at MAS that encourages students and the people in their lives, especially grownups, to read together. Through PARP, we can encourage a love for reading and support literacy.

During PARP, students should read outside of school for at least 20 minutes per day with a parent or other important partner. Caregivers can log minutes read on an online reading log (see below for details). The classes and students with the most minutes read will win prizes!

In addition to reading, PARP is full of fun events and spirit days (see calendar below). Together, we can make sure our little tigers know how much fun reading is!

If MAS reads 100,000 minutes or more during PARP, Mr. Janowitz has agreed to take on the Principal's Challenge at our closing ceremony on Friday, February 17th!

What's the Principal's Challenge? Well, that's up to YOU! Share a silly, crazy, wacky idea for Mr. Janowitz to choose from and be prepared for a hilarious event!

Due February 6th - drop off your paper in the box in the library!

New this year!

This year, we are adding a fundraising component to raise money to support our PTA! Please know that the mission of PARP - to foster a natural love of reading - remains at the core of all of our planning.

We are not placing an emphasis on incentivizing fundraising or organizing a complicated pledge system for minutes or books read.

We simply ask that you consider helping your child reach out to loved ones, friends, neighbors and more who may wish to recognize your child's efforts with a donation of any size to support our PTA!

Money raised during PARP will support assemblies, enrichment opportunities and other special activities organized by the PTA. Fundraising is not required to participate in PARP. We are grateful for the myriad of ways in which families support our MAS community!

Our 2023 Spotlight Charity is SNARR (Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation)! Throughout PARP, you can drop off towels, blankets, dog toys, Milkbones, Bully sticks, paper towels, Purina ONE food (puppy and adult; wet and dry), or laundry detergent.

Did you know that SNARR was founded by MAS parent Courtney Bellew? Learn more about this paw-some non-profit at snarrnortheast.org!
